Advanced Procedures

Advanced gynecologic procedures are specialized tests or treatments used to further evaluate or manage gynecologic symptoms and conditions.

These procedures may be recommended to better understand the cause of abnormal bleeding, abnormal Pap smear results, pelvic pain, uterine concerns, ovarian findings, or other reproductive health issues. They may also be used to evaluate the uterine cavity, remove abnormal tissue, treat cervical changes, or manage symptoms when appropriate.

Your provider will recommend a procedure based on your symptoms, exam findings, imaging results, medical history, and personal goals.

Your provider may recommend additional evaluation or treatment if you have abnormal Pap or HPV results, heavy or irregular bleeding, bleeding after menopause, pelvic pain, suspected fibroids or polyps, ovarian cysts, thickened uterine lining, infertility-related concerns, suspected endometriosis, or symptoms that have not improved with initial treatment.

Not every patient with these symptoms needs a procedure. Your provider will review your options and explain whether additional testing or treatment is recommended.

Each procedure serves a different purpose. Some are used to evaluate symptoms or abnormal test results, while others are used to treat specific gynecologic conditions. Your provider will discuss which option is appropriate for your diagnosis, symptoms, reproductive goals, and overall health.

Risk-reducing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy when indicated

Hysterectomy when medically appropriate

Your provider will discuss whether a minimally invasive approach is appropriate based on your diagnosis, symptoms, imaging results, medical history, and future pregnancy goals.
